Aver deciso di chiudere una rubrica dedicata alla street art, perchè un fenomeno diventato troppo mainstream, è stata una presa di posizione legata anche alla nostra linea editoriale.
Ciononostante, è impossibile sottovalutare o ignorare un fenomeno che nel mondo, (Italia compresa) sta rivoluzionando in maniera incredibile il modo in cui i cittadini fruiscono dell’arte.
Un fenomeno che tra le altre cose, fino a qualche anno fa era sicuramente visto con cattivo occhio, associato per lo più a fenomeni di vandalismo e degrado.
Dell’artista di oggi, non abbiamo mai parlato, ma sicuramente lo avrete sentito nominare, vista la quantità di opere sparse per il mondo che stanno affascinando chiunque.
Axel Void, ha realizzato infatti in occasione del R.A.W. Project un lavoro per la Jose De Diego Middle School nel quartiere Wynwood e non altro che un frame di “Mediocre” il film che l’artista sta attualmente realizzando.
Nella facciata, viene mostrato Papa, un bambino di 6 anni che spinge la sua bicicletta all’interno del quartiere di Miami, catalizzando l’attenzione sulle trasformazioni sociali che il quartiere ha vissuto negli ultimi anni.
The image of this wall is a still from “Mediocre”, a film about daily life that I’m currently making. In the still you can see an image of “Papa”, a six year old that is pushing his bicycle in the neighborhood of Overtown, Miami. This wall is an analysis on life from a quotidian, existencialist standpoint.
The mural was made as part of the Raw Project in the José De Diego Middle School in Miami, Florida. This project invited many artists in order to extend the arts program at the school. The school is located in the neighborhood of Wynwood, a gentrified area where street art and the fashion industry have built a frivolous trend with the reputation of having the best murals in the world, but has rather become a circus in the pursuit of fame
