Da tempo ero incuriosita dalla ricerca dal gusto bizzarro di Bernhard Handick. Finalmente, con alcune domande istintive, ho cercato di togliermi qualche dubbio..

Sono un fotografo ed un artista che utilizza media misti.
I´m a photographer and Mixed Media Artist.
In alcune delle tue immagini copri le persone, una volta che la foto è stata scattata, con segni intrusivi. Non provi mai un certo senso di colpa per questo?
In some of your pictures you cover people, once the photo is done, with really intrusive signs. Don’t you ever feel a sensation of guilt for this?
Quando produco un lavoro di “mixed media”, amo creare una fusione tra fotografia e pittura.
E’ tutto questione di combinare e ricombinare. In tutti i miei lavori invito l’ osservatore ad essere l’ amministratore,
Decostruire e lavorare con le tue basi ti permette di costruire la tua storia personale quando leggi i miei lavori.
Per me come autore è molto importante darti spazio per interpretare.
When I produce a mixed media work, I love to create a fusion between a photography and painting.
It´s all about combining and recombining. In all of my works I invite the viewer to be the regisseur.
Deconstruct and work with your fundus allows you to fulfill your own story when you read my works.
For me as an author it´s really importent to give you the space for interpreation.
In alcune altre foto la gente si copre la faccia con oggetti diversi. Qual’è il tuo rapporto con il concetto di “identità”?
In some other pictures people is covering their faces with different objects. Which is your relationship with the concept of “identity”?
Ritratto, Still life, Nudo ed Identità sono i temi principali nel mio lavoro.
Alla fine l’ osservatore ha la possibilità di vedere più che la sola persona che è una fusione con l’ oggetto o con il dipinto. Mentre lavoro in questo modo utilizzerai la stanza e lo spazio per vedere la persona che hai nella tua testa, e non solo la persona che io ti offro. Dall’ altro lato puoi anche trovare ritratti un cui si veda parte del viso, o anche il viso intero.
Portrait, Still life, Nude and Identity are the main themes in my work.
Eventuelly the viewer always has the possibility to see more then just the person which is in a fusion with the object or the paintings. While I´m working like that you´ll get room and space to see the person you have in mind and not just the person I offer you. On the other side you´ll also find portraits where you see parts of the faces or even the full face.
In queste foto, per coprire i loro volti, finiscono in situazioni poco umane. Quanto è importante la natura umana e quanto invece solo il corpo?
In those photos, in order to cover their faces, they finish in inhuman situations. How important is the human nature in your work and how just the body?
Per me è tutto tranne che una situazione poco umana, e non separo la natura umana dal corpo.
L’ umano, la natura umana e le parti del corpo sono riflessi immediati.
For me it´s anything but a “inhuman situation” and I don´t seperate human nature and the body.
The human, human nature and parts of the body are immediately reflections.
Qual’è il potere principale del nudo nella tua opinione?
Which is the main power of nude in your opinion?
E’ la natura umana.
It´s human nature.

How much and how do you think trends influence your work?
Ci sono moltissime cose che influenzano i miei lavori.
Non mi importa se questi sono contemporanei oppure no.
L’ importante è che il lavoro mi catturi.
There are so many different things which influence my works.
I don´t mind if these works are contemporary or not.
Important is that the work catches me.
Devo ammettere che Bernhard mi ha presa un po’ in contropiede, rispondendo ad alcune delle mie domande in modo inaspettato. Però pensando a quello che ha detto riguardo all’ importanza dello spazio interpretativo lasciato dall’ autore stesso, credo che questo inconveniente possa averla resa ancora più interessante.
